In fact, one of the first surf contests in California, the Pacific Coast Surfriding championship tournament, was held in here in 1928. Looking for your own thrill? If you have a hankering for the hard core, hang ten at “The Wedge,” a renowned surfing spot where 10 to 25 ft. waves challenge even the most fearless daredevil.

Newport Beach's pleasure craft harbor explodes with activity at 9am as the Dory Fishing Fleet returns with their catch of the day and local chefs congregate to pick the freshest seafood for their establishments. These small boats are launched through the surf early in the morning and return to be trailered to storage areas during the day.
