I was a little nervous about booking this hotel, despite all of the rave reviews. When I saw the pictures of the surfers on the wall I thought that it might be kitchy or some divey beach hut. Boy, was I wrong! From the second you walk in the door, the staff treats you like an old friend. We always felt welcome and at home when we walked through the door.
The staff is friendly and willing to answer any questions and offer you suggestions about the area. There's free parking on the premises and if you can't get a spot, park across the street in a public lot and they feed the meters for you! They constantly have fresh baked cookies at the front, a pretty extensive collection of DVDs that you can borrow 2 at a time, provide you with bottled water and fruit in your room at no charge, and have a great free breakfast. They also have tons of beach gear (towels, chairs, umbrellas, etc.) that you can take to the beach for free.
The room was spacious, the bathroom looked like it was newly done, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had a first floor room that was in front of the parking lot, but we barely heard any noise throughout the night or in the morning. The toiletries they provide were also great (and who provides makeup remover wipes?! That was a nice touch).
The area is also really nice. The beach is pretty, and the area is clean and very safe. There are also a lot of neat shops and restaurants within walking distance.
From top to bottom, the staff at Bay Shores seems to have thought of everything possible to make their guests happy. We are sorry that we couldn't stay longer and can't wait to go back!
