Let me join the chorus of reviewers who LOVE this small hotel. Great location, GREAT staff members who truly believe in customer service. Ralph and Bridget were both so helpful and friendly. Only a block from the ocean and walking distance to the pier, shops and restaurants. The rooms were lovely and the turn down service was a nice touch as were the evening cookies and the comnplimentary morning breakfast. I will definitely be back. Well done!
I relied on tripadvisor to find a good hotel close to Irvine where I had a medical procedure scheduled. The Bay Shores Peninsula was rated #1 and close enough for me. My husband and I felt welcomed from the time we walked in the door! Warren greeted us with fresh baked cookies and several good recommendations for dinner within walking distance. The room is small but very comfortable bed. The DVD was important as I needed to continue an exercise program I was using. They also have a ton of movies to choose from if you want.
Very friendly staff and little extras made this the perfect place for us for a couple of days.
We spent 2 nights at the Bay Shores Peninsula, though wish we were there for longer! We were greeted very warmly by Warren and it was lovely to go to our room and find a welcome note, a fruit basket, chocolates on the pillows, good quality toiletries and other little extras which made us feel very welcome and pleased that we had not chosen a chain hotel. It was lovely sitting up on the balcony enjoying the views while having the complimentary breakfast - a nice relaxed start to the day. We borrowed boogie boards and dvds which was great for the kids.
I found all staff lovely, warm and very helpful. A home away from home and I'm from Australia. Top quality toiletries and linens. Beds were comfortable and rooms quaint nautical and cosy. I highly recommend it for short or long stay. Rosemary, Melbourne Australia
We would never have found this gem without TripAdvisor reviews and we see now why people rave about the Bay Shores. We stayed 2 nights with our two teenagers in their suite (unit 100). We had a large living area with full dining table for 6, a queen bed, two sofas and a half bath. In addition was a separate bedroom with a king bed, and a large full bath with double sinks. Very comfortable beds and great shower.
First visted May 2011 and have been back twice since then, Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. Spring time brought other family members (mid 20's) and they loved the place too. Hotel and staff GREAT as always and we'll be back again.
We stayed here at the beginning and end of a business trip to Annaheim. What a treat! The staff is so incredibly helpful and nice. Yes, the rooms, bathrooms, breakfast room are small- it's a cute little vintage hotel and you're a block from the beach and the harbor! The rooms have just the right amount of "kitsch." It's nice to have breakfast right there, and there's coffee and cookies all day. They have their own parking lot, which was great, and a washer and dryer if you go for a stroll on the beach and get accidentally soaked by a rogue wave (like I did.)
My husband and I stayed here for a friend's wedding and it was a wonderful stay! Rooms were well kept, well stocked, the continental breakfast was plentiful, there was free wifi, and the staff was very friendly.
Sure, the breakfast nook could be bigger, sure the parking lot is small, and sure its not right on the beach. But they do really well making something wonderful out of what they have. At least they WILL pay the city meter for you! Other hotels leave you on your own in similar situations. They also have beach towels, chairs, and toys for free to borrow.
Looking for a Newport-Irvine area alternative to the Hyatt (where you have to walk a mile with your luggage) and the Orange Cty. Airport hotels which have no "personality," I started hunting around on TripAdvisor, discovered this little place, and thought I'd give it a try. What a pleasant surprise! It's located on Balboa, just a block from the beach one direction and a block from the boats the other direction. A good number of restaurant choices are just a couple of blocks away, as is the pier and a couple of bars and beach shops, etc.
