We stayed at the Bay Shores Hotel on our recent trip to California. Since I haven't been back to this area of California in over 40 years it was like deja vu but not in an unpleasant way. This place was equipped with all the modern conveniences. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. It was nice to be able to walk to the beach and to the many bars and restaurants. The innkeeper recommended an Italian restaurant for dinner that was very good. It was apparent that the owners have taken great pride and care in maintaining this property.
This was our 2nd year at Bayshores and we RAVE about this hotel to our friends in Phoenix. We have never stayed at a hotel that gives a room and service like Bayshores. The staff is always so helpful and willing to go out of their way to help a guest and act as though it is no problem. We enjoyed the cookies and coffee that is available at all times. The rooftop patio is where we sat with our coffee for at least 1 1/2 hours each morning and some at night. We will return to this hotel for as many years as possible and will recommend it to everyone.
Two words: rooftop patio! We live 15 minutes away so we are in Newport all the time. We've passed by this place without really noticing it. We stayed here three days prior to the Fourth of July and were completely delighted! Two out of the three nights, we had the beautiful rooftop deck all to ourselves. You look to one side and you see the harbor and look to the other side and see and hear the ocean. It's steps away from anywhere you want to be. Rooms are a touch small but not much time was spent there. Everything is very well maintained. Beach equipment is supplied free of charge.
We couldn't ask for more for the price! This hotel offers amenities found in higher end hotels for a reasonable price. Linens, bath products and turn down service are nice! The hotel is just off the beach and provides complimentary towels and beach toys, boards...etc. We would recommend this hotel to families, those traveling on business or couples looking for a getaway. It has it all! We will be back.
Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We arrived early after two days in Disneyland and were looking forward to some relaxation. Ralph and Lisa were fantastic! Ralph was able to get us into our room by 1:30 which can be unheard of when checking into hotels.
The room is so cute! I love the nautical beach theme it makes you feel like you are right at home.
The hotel has a free DVD library that carries all the latest and greatest films.
Fresh home made chocolate chip cookies are set out every day around 3, take them up to the rooftop sun deck to see the view!
We stayed for 6 days mid June 2013. Perfect location, within walking distance to the beach, the bay, the pier, restaurants & shops. Wonderful room amenities, we loved the fresh fruits & the bed was heavenly (need to find out the brand). Breakfast had a lot of choices (Didn't have to repeat, yeah!), great coffee & a great selection of teas. Loved the rooftop deck! Thanks for feeding the meter by the way. We found a new hotel whenever we are in Southern Cal. We can't wait to come back.
We stayed at Bay Shores for four nights in late May early June. Wonderful retro motel with ultra modern (great) service. Good sized room with double glazing. Very comfortable bed. Clean, clean and clean. Breakfast is excellent, as is the access to coffee and tea all day. The cookies in the afternoon are a nice touch and welcome after a walk to the beach. Well located for the beach and restaurants. Also for Balboa Island if you like a walk. Can't think of any negatives.
We just stayed at the Bay Shore last weekend. When we arrived, we were early - Check in is 3pm and we arrived at 1:30, so we assumed we could leave our bags and walk around until our room was ready. But Ralph called housekeeping to see if any rooms were ready for us. There were some ready; As we were standing in the lobby, he noticed that my husband is rather tall (6'5") and we had only reserved a room with a queen bed. He said a room with a king bed was available and do we want a free upgrade? Of course we took it and the weekend started off on the right foot.
We stayed for 6 nights at the end of May. Our family of six stayed in the two bedroom suite up on the third floor. Bottom line: This was one of the best hotel experiences we have had, and we have traveled extensively staying mostly at 4-5 star resorts. Was this hotel directly on the beach? No. Did this hotel have a pool or hot tub? No. Room service? Nope. So why would I rate this as one of the best hotel experiences we have had? Service. Plain and Simple. We will definitely return.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary/mothers day weekend here at the Bay Shores and right from the moment we arrived the folks there made us feel welcome. Our room was a decent size and very comfortable. They have beach equipment you can use on the beach and a movie library for your viewing entertainment. Every afternoon Warren the front desk man would make warm cookies. The breakfast selection was very good and this to was included in our stay. The hotel is a very short walk or bike ride to either the beach or the bay.
